The district is starting its eighth week of the school year! We have seen an uptick in positive cases of COVID-19 amongst our staff and students. This is to be expected given the surge of cases in Park County. As a District, we continue to follow the Statewide Public Health Orders (14th Continuation and Modification) and we continue to operate under Tier One of our Smart Start Plan (available on our website).
As of today, we have 43 students district-wide in quarantine or isolation, confirmed by Public Health. Nine (9) staff members (teachers, administrators and support staff) are also out due to positive tests or recommendation to quarantine. To put this into perspective, this is roughly 2% of our student population and 2% of our employees.
Of these cases 15 are at CHS (12 student, 3 staff members), 11 at CMS (8 students and 3 staff members) and 26 at the elementary level (23 students and 3 staff members).
If you have a student in any of the classes impacted by a positive case of COVID-19, you will have been contacted by the building principal and/or classroom teacher. Close contact tracing is conducted by Public Health. You should be contacted by Public Health if you are suspected of having been in close contact or your student has been in close contact with a positive case.
We are imploring our parents and community members to continue your diligence in following the recommendations of Public Health. This will go a long way in helping us mitigate the spread of this insidious virus! Use face coverings, maintain social distancing and implement extra sanitizing efforts. Encourage your students to follow these guidelines when they are outside of the school setting as well.
Our efforts as a community will have a significant impact on our ability to continue in-person instruction and ensure that our sports and activities are not further restricted or shut down all together. This is an incredible challenge for all of us, but we can do this together.
Thank you! Stay safe and stay well!
