KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR 2024-2025

Our district provides all-day kindergarten at our three in-town elementary schools: Eastside, Livingston, and Sunset; and at our two rural elementary schools: Valley and Wapiti. Your child must be five years old on or before August 1st of the upcoming school year to be automatically eligible to enroll in kindergarten. If your child has a birthday between August 2nd and September 15th and you would like them to start kindergarten, you may complete the registration process, but your child is not automatically eligible for kindergarten and will have to be approved by the district. The district will then contact you with more information about the petition process. Students who would turn five after September 15th will have to wait until the next year to start school. State law prohibits anyone not five by September 15th to begin kindergarten. Please contact the district office, at 307-587-4253 if you have questions about the petition process.

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year starting in August 2024, is NOW OPEN. This registration process is intended to get most of the information the district will need from you for your child to start school.

Due to this, please plan on 20-30 minutes to register your child.

There is a video below and a link to some helpful instructions on the left-hand side of this page.  Please be sure to select "New Student Registration for 2024-2025". Families should make sure kindergarteners are registered by May 10th, 2024 to have placement requests at specific schools considered.

PLEASE CLICK HERE  to begin registering your kindergartener(s).

*If you are having trouble with the online registration or do not have access to a computer, please call the district office to create an appointment to come in and complete the registration.

Please note: The registration is not complete until you are able to click the submit button and get a confirmation page that your child's registration has been submitted.

REGISTRATION TIPS & TRICKS VIDEO

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The online registration asks you to upload the following documents. We ask that you try to upload them (you can upload pictures or scanned PDFs) as this will help the district have what we need to prepare for your child to start kindergarten in the fall. If you are not able to upload them please continue with the registration and we will get these documents from you prior to school starting in the fall.

  • Child’s original birth certificate

  • Any out of state immunization records

  • Records Request from Previous School (if your child attended kindergarten in another district prior to the 2024-2025 school year)

  • Any legal documents we will need (custody documents, etc.)

SCHOOL PLACEMENTS

For new students that have siblings who already attend one of the Park County School District 6 Elementary Schools, we keep siblings together and will place the new student at the same school as their siblings.

For new families with no students in a Park County School District 6 Elementary School, we will attempt to place elementary students at the school in your neighborhood or at the school you request; however, this is not always possible due to the policy requirement that class sizes be balanced across the district. A building principal or secretary will inform parents of new elementary students of their school assignment.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS

All incoming kindergarten students will participate in a standardized readiness screening. This screening helps determine your child’s readiness levels specific to kindergarten and may address concerns you might have about whether your child needs another year to grow before attending public school.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS CAMP

Registered kindergartners may attend the district’s Kindergarten Readiness Camp (KRC), Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 10th-June 20th, 2024 at Sunset Elementary School. KRC activities include reading, writing, and math as well as school skills like walking in the halls, transitioning from one classroom to another, crossing in the crosswalk, and riding the bus. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided and there is no cost to attend.

If you have any questions about the registration process or problems accessing the online form, please feel free to contact our district office by calling 307-587-4253 or emailing cortniebroadus@park6.org.
