CAD projects

Sunset Elementary students are diving into the world of design and innovation by using basic CAD (Computer-Aided Design) programs to create their own 3D models. These young learners are not only exploring the fundamentals of digital design, but they are also taking on the role of leaders by teaching their peers about CAD and the 3D printing process.

By designing and printing their own projects—ranging from keychains to simple tools—students gain hands-on experience with technology that aligns with Wyoming Content and Performance Standards. These include standards in Science (such as engineering design practices), Math (geometry and measurement), and Computer Science (digital tools and computational thinking). Through this work, students practice problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration, all while gaining confidence in technology that is shaping the future.

This peer-led approach empowers students to be both learners and teachers, deepening their understanding while building leadership and communication skills. It’s a powerful example of how technology in the classroom can meet educational standards and inspire the next generation of designers and engineers.
