Thank you very much to our amazing Sunset PTO. This week was packed with many events, parent teacher conferences, book fair, carnival, and PTO Sweetheart Breakfast. PTO was a big part of a successful week, providing dinners both nights for teachers during conferences, staffing the book fair, and hosting, preparing, and serving at the pancake breakfast! Thank you so much for ALL you do for our school, our students and out staff. We couldn't do it without you!
The 2nd & 3rd grade music program Arf! will be performed Thursday, Feb. 22, 6:30 pm at the Wynona Thompson Auditorium. Miss Pinney sent home a sheet of paper with costume information. Just a reminder that students singing on risers along with the dog cast of characters are to dress in nice performance clothes.
All students with speaking parts will need to be at the High School Auditorium by 6 pm for makeup. Miss Pinney will have their dog ears and dog tails.
Sunset families, a reminder there is no school Monday and Tuesday, February 19 and 20th!
Random Acts of Kindness Week is February 11-17. To celebrate, Mrs. Baumstarck created a “Be Silly, Be Honest, Be Kind” poster challenge! There are suggested tasks on the poster that students accomplish. Once they completed an act of kindness, honesty, or silliness Mrs. Baumstarck will give them a sticker to put on the poster. Students can do as many challenges as they want!

As winter weather season approaches, we want Sunset Elementary School families to know our procedures for handling severe conditions. To ensure the safety of our staff and students, we developed a temporary virtual education policy (TVE). We will use virtual learning so we won’t have to make up a missed school day.
If schools close because of extreme weather we will have virtual learning days. During these TVEs, teachers will actively engage with students to ensure that teaching and learning continue during those days.
Kindergarten - 5th-grade students were assigned a learning resource titled “Brain Quest”. This resource provides a full year of classroom exercises and activities to support learning. Click on the link below for the letter describing the elementary TVE process that was sent earlier this year. Please contact your teacher with any questions. Thank you.
